Light tubeless wheels for mountainous and hilly terrain

The amazing acceleration of the new DURA-ACE R9270 C36 wheels gives a completely new driving experience on climbs, curves and even at red lights in traffic. The decisive factor here is not only the overall weight of the wheel, but also the weight distribution on the wheel. The completely new design of the C36 saves mass wherever possible, but especially on the rim. The result is a dynamic balance bike for a new driving experience.

With a lighter, wider full carbon rim and a lighter hub, the DURA-ACE C36 wheel is ideally equipped for ascents in the mountains. The new rim with its 36 mm high profile offers good aerodynamic properties despite its extremely low weight. In contrast, the hub has a Freehub freehub body made of light metal and a new locking mechanism for greater rigidity.

Centerlock
The centerlock system of the brake disc with multi-tooth profile and locking ring makes assembly easier. This system of assembly using a locking ring enables quick assembly and disassembly of the brake disc and thus saves service costs. In addition, the secure fit on the multi-tooth profile ensures greater precision and strength, which increases the effectiveness of the brake.

OPTBAL
The OPTBAL HR spoke system uses 21 spokes: 14 on the right and 7 on the left. The cassette width in today's wheels causes unbalanced tension in conventional 1: 1 spoke systems. This imbalance is intensified by the 11-speed cassette, which exerts almost double the tension on the spokes on the right. Under certain circumstances, high and low tension spokes can break or loosen. An unbalanced tension affects the lifespan and strength. The OPTBAL construction balances the spoke tension and thereby improves the wheel stiffness as well as the strength for a more robust wheel.
