Campagnolo Pro-Tech bearing shell

The new Ekar bearing shells are specially designed for the difficult conditions on all-road and gravel routes.

It is equipped with ProTech ™ technology, which consists of a patented outer seal, which protects the ball bearings from the harmful ingress of water, mud and sand, and a waterproof center sleeve made of glass fiber reinforced polyamide to prevent contamination from the inside. The new bearing shells are paired with the oversize outer bearings made of stainless steel, which are attached to the two Ultra-Torque ™ axle halves firmly connected to the cranks. Thanks to the ProTech ™ sealing system, performance is always optimal, no matter where you are going. The Ekar bottom bracket options offer wide compatibility with standard frames thanks to a full range of threaded and PressFit bearing shells.

Pro-Tech ™

The patented ProTech ™ technology with double seals firmly connects the two halves of the axle inside the bottom bracket and protects the bearings from the ingress of water and mud, which ensures high performance and durability even under the worst conditions. The innovative and proven Ultra-Torque ™ technology was developed in gravel form. The Hirth coupling of the ProTech ™ system has self-centering and self-aligning teeth that are located in the center of the crank, where the ends of the built-in axle halves meet.

The axle halves are fixed with a single, oversized, protected screw. Their precise fit can even compensate for the misalignments that some carbon frames can have due to the tiny tolerance differences in their manufacture. The torque transmission of the ProTech ™ pedal crank system is as efficient as that of a single thru-axle and lighter. In addition, it is also more durable as it is better protected than other systems. The oversize stainless steel bearing located on the crank outside the bottom bracket shell offers maximum rigidity, smoothness and strength thanks to the enlarged diameter of the pedal axles.
