In order not to suffer the response of the fork or even the standpipe coating, you should replace the dust wiper from time to time.

The seals are removed with a wide screwdriver, which is best fitted with the gentle plastic tool from Rock Shox. Incidentally, it is usually easier to insert the foam rings before installing the dust wiper.

For some forks, there are several options. The separation into dust scrapers and oil seals is currently no longer available, as a rule the dust scrapers are today only combined with foam rings as lube oil storage. As of 2014, the gray scrapers were increasingly replaced by black seals.

For dust in the fork or air loss, the Staubabstreifer nothing, a change may never hurt but does not solve these problems.
