For high-speed and powerful acceleration, the revised DURA-ACE C60 wheel combines a high-profile tubular tire rim made of carbon with a completely new hub that saves weight and at the same time improves the rigidity of the drive. When designing the C60 impeller, the lateral stiffness in particular was improved in order to optimize it for the requirements of sprinters.

OPTBAL
The OPTBAL HR spoke system uses 21 spokes: 14 on the right and 7 on the left. The cassette width in today's wheels causes unbalanced tension in conventional 1: 1 spoke systems. This imbalance is intensified by the 11-speed cassette, which exerts almost double the tension on the spokes on the right. Under certain circumstances, high and low tension spokes can break or loosen. An unbalanced tension affects the lifespan and strength. The OPTBAL construction balances the spoke tension and thereby improves the wheel stiffness as well as the strength for a more robust wheel.
